Longines Watch Company
Founded by Ernest Francillon in 1866, the Longines Watch Company, situated in Les Longines near
St. Imier, Switzerland, produced some of the finest timepieces.
In 1912 the company produced the first automatic timekeeping
device. From that day forward, Longines has been associated with time-keeping at sporting events.
In the 1950's,
Longines purchased the Wittnauer Watch Company and marketed a variety of similar lines of watches in the US under both names.
